The wildfires devastating the west coast right now are creating an unfathomable number of people and groups in need of help. Feeling overwhelmed (and stuck inside due to the smoke), we stumbled across a post by our besties at One Tail at a Time PDX, an all-breed foster-based dog and cat rescue based here in Portland, Oregon. It struck just the note of hope we needed.
A flight that was scheduled to bring OTAT a plane full of dogs to be rescued had to be diverted at the last minute due to the fires and smoke. Undaunted, OTAT rented cargo vans and staff and volunteers drove to Idaho to pick up these vulnerable floofers.
It was a huge unexpected expense, but the dogs (and a few cats who hitched a ride, too!) are now safe in loving foster homes and on their way to new lives.
SO: We're hoping to do double duty by raising both spirits and money for OTAT with some cute pics of Team Twisted's own rescued furry family members - and their favorite Twisted products.
Today through Friday, we'll donate 20% of sales of our featured rescue pets' favorite Twisted products to One Tail at a Time PDX.

APPA
Don't be fooled by her precious face. This pupper gets dirty... and so does anything in jumping-on or shaking-off range. Luckily she LOVES to swim and take baths, too. That's why Appa gives two dewclaws up to both Soak and Eucalan no-rinse laundry soaps. They aren't for washing puppies, but they can clean the handknits that puppies get dirty. Yip, yip!
ZEKE
Zeke loved Hazel Knits Lively DK (to sit on, of course). His tastes were very particular and he could decide in moments if something was worthy of his dapper bum. Lively DK made the cut... and washed up well afterward.
NALA
Nala's heart belongs to Less Traveled Yarns Sport. (Though she is a fan of all their bases if we're being honest.) She loves how soft it is and is obsessed with the colors and speckles. Bright and fun just like her!
PEACH
Peach’s fave is Brooklyn Tweed Loft because it’s light enough that she can carry a whole skein up 2 flights of stairs. She likes to get her daily workout in and requires many color options to match her mood of the day. Luckily, her human Parna is always willing to oblige with more yarn.
NILES
Twistedista Dawn doesn't have any pets at home BUT! our office robot vacuum Niles (purchased used) is her darling stand-in. He may not look it on the outside, but rest assured his insides are full of fluff. He is goodhearted but often naughty, cuddling favorite yarns on his nightly runs. BMFA Super Sparkle is his first love and still steals his heart to this day.
STANLEY
Stanley loved Twine Bulky (modeled here) because it is just so squishy! He appreciated the extra-thick fabric to keep his tiny figure toasty during chilly PNW winters.
TIA
Tia was a fan of anything she could lay on, but she had an extra love for Black Cat Fibers Etain. A true connoisseur of luxury yarns, she'd find and take a snooze atop the finest silky, wooly goodness on hand.
MARCELINE
Marceline loves the Yoshi & Lucy Rosa base because it's extra fluffy - like her! She came to the conclusion long ago that fuzz is the new black, the fiber community is finally catching up.
