Ocean Breezes Hat now available

Lee Meredith’s amazing Ocean Breezes Hat, our October offering from the SSC last year, is now available to purchase! Yay!

Straight from the designer’s mouth, here is the why and the how of the designing of the hat:

I’ve been designing hats for years, with inspiration coming at me from all angles. When I was given this yarn (and in the North Sea colorway, no less) I must have been subconsciously inspired by the ocean. At first, the only thing I was sure of was that I wanted to design a hat with buttons, and while browsing button options the idea of fish jumped out at me and stuck. When I saw these particular fish buttons, I loved them immediately and from there the hat went on to almost design itself!

With much help from Barbara Walker’s Treasury of Knitting Patterns, I started with one wavy pattern blending into another and a swirling wave-hitting-the-shore kind of brim strap shaping. That description might be a stretch, but I grew up on the California coast and this hat does indeed remind me of the ocean!
