Last month we shared each of our team members’ New Year’s cast-on plans. Buuuuut, the heart wants what the heart wants. See what we actually made below!
In our wildest and obviously favorite deviation, Anny planned to cast on a crochet sweater. Instead she knit:
Kitty Jazzersnooze Set in HHF Sock Yarn Minis
Kitty Jazzersnooze Set
No true pattern was used for this epic set, but we just had to show it off. The leggings are a heel-less version of our Twinkle Toes mini sock pattern. The headband is just an i-cord! The model is Ava, who is one of a kind. She is patiently modeling her set in HHF Sock Yarn Minis colorway Firefly.
Sock Yarn Mini
by Hedgehog Fibres
An explosion of color in bite-sized form. Your favorite Hedgehog colorways, ready to add a pop of color to any project.
Success! In addition to the biggest/cutest digression, Anny was also our only team member who cast on a project exactly as planned. Gold star for her:
Thickmas Socks in Chubs & Squeak Twist Sock
Thickmas Socks
by Summer Lee Knits
Super thick and squishy, these socks are made holding two fingering weight yarns together. Get scrappy with it, or use a variegated skein. Pictured above in colorway Juneuary.
Twist Sock
by Chubs & Squeak
This 2-ply sock yarn is ideal for Thickmas Socks! The extra plumpness from the plies will lend itself perfectly to ultra thick and supple socks.
Only slightly deviating from her plan, Dawn couldn’t help but use our newest yarn when it arrived. She cast on:
Meat & Potatoes Hat in Malabrigo Noventa
Meat & Potatoes Hat
from Twisted
This cabled stocking hat and cowl pattern is a tried and true staple to knit again and again. The pattern is written for 4 different yarn weights, 2 sizes, and comes with instructions for the matching cowl!
Noventa
by Malabrigo
Naturally, we all had to take this new smooth single-ply chunky weight yarn from Malabrigo for a test run the second it arrived. ;) Pictured on the left in color 429 Cape Cod Gray.
Tiara the Unicorn meant to cast on a sweater… but who can resist an instant gratification super bulky hat with a pompom? So, instead she whipped up:
The Crush Chapeau in Malabrigo Rasta
The Crush Chapeau
from BKnitsHandmade
The quickest, cutest bonnet you ever did see! Pop a faux fur pom on top for that extra oomph factor. Pictured above in color 883 Sheri.
Rasta
by Malabrigo
Malabrigo’s bulkiest base doesn’t skimp when it comes to softness. It’s 100% Merino with a lavish and luxurious feel.
Emily planned to start a sweater for herself, but instead stumbled across the perfect yarn for her partner on our clearance rack. So, instead she (and Appa) cast on:
First Raglan Sweater in Akara Yarns Organic DK
First Raglan Sweater
by Jared Flood and Brooklyn Tweed
This doesn’t have to be your first raglan sweater to be an ideal pattern. Easily customizable for gauge and size variations.
While Akara Yarns Organic DK is nearly sold out, we have loads of other great deals on our clearance page. Get them while they last!
And, from deep in left field, Anny became obsessed with weaving to make:
