Knitting Adventures
Intro to Steeking – Bucket List Coffee Cuff & Coaster: Wednesday, August 3 & 10, from 6:00-7:30pm. Steeking is on the list for every knitting skill completist! This slightly spooky technique is actually quite painless, especially with the guidance of a great teacher like Michele Bernstein. Small circumference knitting methods and colorwork strategies will be discussed in the first class as you cast on your piece. Complete your knitting, then come to the second class ready to cut! Michele will help you fearlessly steek your work to create an adorable coffee cuff to keep your beverage hot, or a mug rug to keep your tables ring free. Tackle a gorgeous Norwegian or Fair Isle sweater next with your new superpower!
Log Cabin Knitting: Monday, August 15, from 6:00-8:30pm. Learn this fun method of geometric knitting inspired by quilting. Once you know how, you can take off in many directions! We’ll start with the simple garter stitch log cabin square that is the basis of the Log Cabin Baby Blanket, and then we’ll discuss the many ways you can use these squares, or alter them to make them your own. This is a wonderful class for beginners looking for an entertaining way to practice, and for anyone who want to use up those bits and pieces in their stash.
