Super Soft Yarns
The most common yarn quality we're asked about is far and away softness. And, for many projects, it's key! Softness is subjective (what isn't?), but below are some of our across-the-board faves.
Wildstar Fibers Supernova Sock
Fingering Weight
Practically synonymous with buttered kittens. This blend of Merino and Nylon sometimes flies under the radar because of its fiber content but, rest assured, you'll think these bright beauties are cashmere!
Qing Supersoft Aran
Aran Weight
How does Qing get such crisp speckles on cashmere? We have no idea, but we are obsessed! This yarn is the equivalent of wrapping yourself in a cloud, or so we suspect.
Hazel Knits Entice
Fingering Weight
Cashmere is always a shoo-in for next-to-skin softness. Have you knit yourself cashmere blend socks yet? If the answer is no.... you should fix that immediately. You deserve it. ;)
Freia Plush
Super Bulky Weight
There is just something about the combo of wool and silk... it was meant to be. The two-ply nature of this yarn manages to make it seem even softer with just the slightest hint of a textural fabric.
BMFA La Luna DK
DK Weight
Also a wool/silk blend, La Luna's especially fine 19.5-micron merino wool gives it even more fluffy oomph. You'll find yourself reaching for this base time and time again.
Berroco Pima 100
DK/Worsted Weight
Cotton can be hit or miss on the softness scale, but this 100% Pima is sublime. Once washed it is an absolute dream, perfect for any and all summer and baby projects.
Malabrigo Mecha
Bulky Weight
Single plies are known for being especially soft, and Mecha takes it to a whole new level. And the intense colors make it clear that Malabrigo is a cult favorite for good reason.
Berroco Comfort
All Weights
Available in Sock, DK, Worsted, and Chunky, this yarn is perhaps our most baby-friendly option. Not only is it washable and dryable, but the lack of animal fibers prevents irritation for even the most sensitive skin!
