Classy! (Round-up for Sept. 22-28)

We’re still cranking out our exciting fall classes! This is what’s coming up in the last week of September:

Intro to Circular Knitting/Basic Hat: Learn to knit a basic stocking cap in the round on circular and double pointed needles! A great next step from garter stitch scarves Class is with Michele Bernstein on September 22 and 29 from 6-8pm and costs $40. You’ll need DK, worsted, aran, or chunky weight yarn, a 16″ circular needle and set of dpns in a size to match the yarn. Class includes Ann Norling Head Huggers pattern.

Buttonhole Workshop: Learn a variety of different buttonholes and when to use them! With Michelle Molis, Thursday, September 23rd from 6-8pm. Class costs $20 and you’ll need some worsted weight yarn (preferably light colored and solid-ish) and needles to match.

Embroidery: Learn the basics to adorn your clothes, your knitting, and anything else you can stick a needle through! With Elaine Marcus, Saturday, September 25 from 1-3pm. You’ll need fabric (such as a flour sack towel), embroidery floss, embroidery needles, embroidery hoop, and small scissors.

Slipping Stitches:
Learn all about slipped stitch knitting, starting with the basics. Dawn Seymour will demonstrate various combinations of slipped stitches and talk about working slipped stitches in conjunction with other techniques (like short rows.) Finish by knitting a simiple slouch hat using slipped stitch patterning of your own choosing (or follow Dawn’s pattern.) Class is on September 26th and October 3rd, from 10:30-12:30 pm and costs $40. For swatching: Bring (or be prepared to buy) two skeins of contrasting smooth yarn and one skein of an “interesting” (bumpy, nubby, variegated) yarn. Worsted weight is suggested. For the hat: you can use the same yarn as the swatches, or use two different skeins in worsted weight – on smooth and solid, one “interesting”, in coordinating colors. Bring US size 7 and 9 circular needles (16″ length) and dpns in size 9 (or a size to match your yarn), as well as a tapestry needle.

Baby Booties: Make Ysolda’s adorable Tiny Shoes! A fantastic project for using up leftover sock yarn, and wonderful gifts! Class is with Parna on September 28th and October 5th, from 6:30-8pm, and costs $30. You’ll need about 66 yards of fingering weight yarn, US 2.5 (3mm) dpns (or two circs), 2 small buttons, and a tapestry needle. The pattern is included.

As per usual, give us a call or email if you want to sign up! (Or drop by the shop, of course!)
