Class Round Up – New Tricks!

This week’s round up features a diverse selection of classes for you to pick up new skills. Considering your first hat? Looking to embellish with needle felting? How about knitting with wire? Read on!

Last call for tonight’s Intro to Circular Knitting/Basic Hat class on Wednesday, November 10th and 17th! If you’re looking for a next step after scarves, this class is perfect! Learn to knit in the round, decrease, read a pattern, and use both circular and double pointed needles. Taught by local legend Michele Bernstein, from 6-8pm. Cost is $40 and you’ll need some dk, worsted, aran, or chunky weight yarn, a 16″ needle and set of dpns in a size to match (we can get you hooked up, no problemo!) Includes the Ann Norling Head Huggers pattern.

Learn to needle felt this Sunday at your favorite yarny crafty haven – Twisted! Needle felting is a must-have skill for embellishing your knitted projects or on its own. It’s like painting or sculpting with fiber. You’ll be starting with the basics for this class, but here are two photos of things that your teacher, Karen, has created. Amazing!

Materials: Wool felt, several colors wool roving, needle felting kit (foam and needle).
Skills learned: Flat and 3-D needle felting.

We have jewelry classes too! Our Knitted Wire Bracelet class will introduce you to knitting with wire and leave you with a cool and sculptural bangle or clasped bracelet (your choice). Karie will show you how to add beads as well! Class is on Sunday November 14th, 1 to 3pm, and costs $20. You’ll need 100y of 28 gauge artist wire in copper, brass, or silver, 30 beads of your choice, US size 4-8 needles, depending on weave of bracelet desired, toggle finding of your choice, OR Silverpurl Wire Bracelet kit. Bracelet pattern is included with the class.
