Ananke
I am trying my hand at a bit of designing, and am most excited about this shawlette, Ananke.
Star gave me a skein of Wollmeise for my birthday, and for the longest time, it sat on my bookshelf, taunting me with its beauty. It’s Poison Number 5, and is the most wonderful blend of deep raspberry pink and black. I knew it had to be something superduperspecial. I thought about Damson or Ishbel, I thought about doing another Stephen West pattern, I even considered for a second doing a pair of socks. But one night, I got to knitting, and decided I was going to come up with something completely new to complement this insanely gorgeous skein of yarn. Thus Ananke was born. (The other yarns I used for my versions are Blue Moon Socks that Rock Mediumweight in Muddy Autumn Rainbow and Malabrigo Sock in Archangel.)
Hazel even loves this shawlette – I can barely get it off of her to wear myself!
It’s a great pattern to use that single skein of special sock yarn, and we have that, and oodles and oodles of sock yarn, here in the shop. You can also follow this link and get the pattern as a download on Ravelry, or a hard copy through the mail via our new WEB STORE!!
And, thanks so much to the ever-brilliant Sivia, who helped me make this pattern much more accessible by figuring out the repeat, and the quick-as-a-fox Sorren, for test-knitting this. Twisted is full to tha’ brim of the best folks around!
