Pick out two variegated colors and knit your own vibrant plumaje (Spanish for plumage). This shawl combines a wide wing-like shape with stitch patterns evoking the texture of feathers.

MATERIALS

YARN
Approximately 800 yards/731 meters fingering weight yarn, split equally between two colors (A and B).

NEEDLES
US #6/4.0mm (or size you need to get gauge) for working flat

NOTIONS
Stitch markers, tapestry needle, blocking wires or pins

VITAL STATS

GAUGE
20 sts = 4"/10 cm in garter stitch after blocking
Gauge is not crucial for this pattern but it will affect finished measurements. In addition, the finished object will be very stretchy and malleable when blocking.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Approximate, after blocking
width = 23"/59 cm at center
length = 88"/223 cm from tip to tip
