This classic pattern is a great way to learn short rows or knitting backward. Knit two out of one ball of Sugar ‘n Cream or - my favorite - one of these and one of Grandma Marian’s Dishcloth.

As well as dishcloths and washcloths, these make excellent coasters, trivets, and padding between dishes or pots.

We have a tutorial for how to work the short rows in this pattern.
