This item is on pre-order! It will be available:

11/11/2021
  • This item is a pre-order. You will be charged at checkout, and it will ship on November 11, 2021.
  • Please check out for this pre-order separately from regular, in-stock items. Thank you!
    • Because pre-orders ship separately, they are treated as separate orders.
    • That means each order will qualify, or not, for free shipping separately. So, it is the cart total of regular, in-stock items that triggers eligibility for free shipping for those regular, in-stock items.
    • The free shipping calculator in the cart drawer EXCLUDES PRE-ORDERS for this reason.
    • The robot that calculates shipping quotes at checkout gets grumpy about all the above, and will not always offer free shipping correctly if you combine pre-orders and regular items in the same order.
  • The ETA listed is our best guess for when we'll be able to ship your pre-order. Occasionally this can be delayed due to severe weather or other unforeseeable events beyond our control. If this happens, we'll reach out to keep you updated.

The knit and crochet designs in Issue 39 are inspired by rhythm! Our Winter 2021 collection is packed with patterns which honour echoes, explore semitonal shifts in colour, and include repeating motifs to allow you to get into a stitching groove. We love how the designers have taken our auditory theme and created patterns which highlight the aspects of rhythm we see, such as written musical scores and the visual representation of soundwaves. No matter at what tempo you craft, there’s a winter project for you here!

Featuring designs by: JUDITH BRAND, ASTRID COLDING SIVERTSEN, ADELLA DUTRA, ANA D, TETYANA VYAZOVSKA, JOHANNA KUNIN, NIDHI KANSAL, KEIKO KIKUNO, CLEO MALONE, VALERIE NG

Artist, maker, and stylist Lydia Morrow was the creative director for this issue’s photoshoot! We’ve long admired Lydia’s jazzy sense of style, so we’re honoured to publish her vision in our pages. After you’ve found your crafting cadence, enjoy the two articles in Issue 39. In ‘Rhythms of Handiwork’, Felicity (Felix) Ford explores the communal and historical relationship between craft and rhythm, while Claudia Khan writes touchingly about the delicate melody of parenthood, partnership, and time in her article, ‘A Family Song’. Kiyomi and Sachiko Burgin are the authors of this issue’s handmade lip balm tutorial, so you can combat chapped lips brought on by cold weather and even have some non-knitted handmade gifts ready for the festive season.

All the books and magazines we sell are new. Upon receipt, we inspect them for misprints and damage, then sort them into the following categories in an effort to give you as much information as possible and make sure you're satisfied with your purchase! Regardless of the condition, we'll do our best to package your media item securely so it arrives to you in good shape. Shipping can be a tough journey, though, so we can never guarantee a book will arrive absolutely as crisp as the day it was printed.

  • Practically Perfect - as far as we can see, these are as pristine as reasonably possible. If no condition is listed, it's this one!
  • Minor Cosmetic Damage - these have very small, purely cosmetic issues that many people may not even notice. Honestly, they're on par with an average new book or magazine in a bookstore. Examples: bent corner or a small nick in the cover.
  • Moderate Cosmetic Damage - these have more noticeable cosmetic issues but are still overall attractive and completely functional. Examples: a misprinted smudge on the cover or more extensive corner damage.
  • Major Cosmetic Damage - these have been through the wringer. As far as we can tell they're perfectly functional with all pages intact, but they look more like a well-loved used book might in a bookstore. Examples: cracked spine or torn cover.
