PieceWork Magazine, March/April 2018 Description
Welcome to PieceWork’s 25th-anniversary celebration! Since its first issue in 1993, it has been PieceWork’s mission to bring you poignant, inspiring, and entertaining articles on the history of handwork traditions and the people who created the work, with how-to techniques and step-by-step projects using those traditions. For those who are passionate about handwork and who value its past and present roles in the ongoing human story, we are delighted to have you with us as we celebrate this milestone.
PieceWork’s 25th-Anniversary issue is packed with explanations of “How did they do that?” Learn to make seventeenth-century Dorset buttons and explore the pre-Incan technique of cross-knit looping. Knit Kurdish socks inspired by an original pair purchased by Barb Sobkoviak in a small shop in Northern Iraq. And in a fascinating piece from Alba Cid, you’ll find out how the Whitman candy company came to decorate the packaging for its chocolates with a cross-stitch sampler.
