Electronic - most popular

Electronic gift certificates are processed automatically either immediately (yep, even after hours and on weekends) or on the day of your choosing. (*See below for note about send time!*) You can have a virtual greeting card emailed directly to your recipient, or have the gift card code and a special link to access a virtual greeting card emailed to you, or select a print-at-home option.

For gift certificates being emailed directly to the recipient, you (the gift giver) will still get an email confirming your purchase. We know sending gifts off into the ether can be a little anxiety-provoking, so the system will also attempt to let you know when your recipient opens their gift certificate. :)

To order:

1. Select the amount of your gift certificate from the first dropdown menu.
2. Select Electronic as the delivery method from the second dropdown menu.
3. Click the "Customize Gift Certificate" button.
4. Select your preferred delivery option (Email, Link, or Print).
5. Enter the recipient's name as you want it to appear to them. For example, if you enter "Mary Smith" then the To field will say "Mary Smith". But if you enter "Mom" then the To field will say "Mom".
6. Enter your gift message.
7. The From field will show your full name (first and last) as entered at checkout. Sometimes this might be a little formal! So, if you'd like additional information about who the card is from include that as part of your message. For example, if the gift is from a group you might say "Best wishes from all of us at Acme Co." Or "You're the bestest! Love, Suz".
8. Select whether to send now or to schedule for a future date.  (*See below for note about send time!*)
9. Click the Add to Cart button.
10. Check out.

* Scheduled E-Gift Cards & Time Zones

Your e-gift card will be sent on the date you choose at the time you place your order in YOUR TIME ZONE. If you are in a different time zone than your recipient that could affect the resulting date they receive the gift card in their time zone. Keep time zones in mind when selecting your send date!

For example, if you are in Portland, Oregon and purchase a gift card at 11pm Pacific Time, it will be sent at 11pm Pacific Time on the date you choose. So, if you select a send date of January 1st, the card will be sent on January 1st at 11pm Pacific Time. However, to someone on the East Coast, that same moment is actually January 2nd at 2am Eastern Time.

Unfortunately, selecting a send-at time other than the time at which you check out is not currently possible. The software company we use to administer our electronic gift cards says they hope to add this functionality soon. In the meantime, if you need a card scheduled at a time other than when you want to purchase it please reach out and let us know!

Physical card sent via snail mail

Physical gift certificates are printed and processed by hand and should be in the mail within two business days after your order. (Our office is closed weekends, a week in July for Summer Break, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day, and the first full week of January for Winter Break.) Transit time after that depends on your distance from Portland, Oregon and the shipping method you choose.

In addition to a physical, printed card snail-mailed to the recipient, you (the gift-giver) will be emailed a just-in-case, back-up, print-at-home version of the same gift certificate. Every once in a while mail does go missing, so this way you're covered. Better safe than sorry!

To order:

1. Select the amount of your gift certificate from the first dropdown menu.
2. Select Physical Card as the delivery method from the second dropdown menu. You MUST select Physical Card here so that we know to snail mail a printed card. If the Delivery Method is set to Electronic, no physical card will be snail mailed.
3. Click the "Customize Gift Certificate" button.
4. Select the PRINT option.
5. Enter the recipient's name as you want it to appear to them. For example, if you enter "Mary Smith" then the To field will say "Mary Smith". But if you enter "Mom" then the To field will say "Mom".
6. Enter your gift message.
7. If you don't specifically say who the card is from as part of your message, we'll use the full name (first and last) as entered at checkout. If you'd prefer different attribution, include that as part of your message. For example, if the gift is from a group you might rather it say "Best wishes from all of us at Acme Co." Or "You're the bestest! Love, Suz".
8. Click the Add to Cart button.
9. Check out, being sure to enter the correct shipping name and address (the place you want the card snail mailed).
