Discover why so many knitters love to make socks. Learn the basics of sock construction using the traditional top-down, gusset method. These are knit on two 24” circular needles, and use worsted weight yarn to focus on sock construction.
NOTE: This class skips one week between the 2nd & 3rd sessions.

Skill Level: Intermediate
Skills Required: Long tail or knitted cast on, knit and purl stitches, common decreases, pattern reading, binding off.
Skills Learned: Basics of top-down sock construction, including working a heel gusset, as well as working with 2 circular needles to knit a small item in the round.
Homework: Students MUST do a gauge swatch before class with your yarn and needles to ensure you’re achieving a gauge of 5 sts = 1” / 2.5 cm.
Materials: Either bring your own or before/during class get 20% off your purchase of the following:
- Yarn: 250 yards of worsted weight yarn. We recommend Knitted Wit Superwash Worsted. Berroco Vintage, Berroco Ultra Wool, and Malabrigo Rios are other good options.
- Needles: two 24" circular needles in size US #6 / 4 mm OR whatever gets YOU a gauge of 5 sts = 1" / 2.5 cm on your chosen yarn.
- Notions: stitch markers, tapestry needle.
