120-150 yards sport (for toddler size), DK (for child size), worsted (for adult small), or aran (for adult large) weight yarn

Needles

16" circular and double points in main size (noted below OR size that gets YOU gauge) and 16" circular in one size smaller (for brim):
Sport - US #4/3.5mm (or size to get gauge)
DK - US #5/3.75mm (or size to get gauge)
Worsted - US #6/4mm (or size to get gauge)
Aran - US #7/5mm (or size to get gauge)

After blocking, unstretched, on larger needles:
Sport - 28 stitches = 4” in st st. Approximately 42 sts = 4” in k2, p2.
DK - 24 stitches = 4” in st st. Approximately 36 sts = 4” in k2, p2.
Worsted - 22 stitches = 4” in st st. Approximately 33 sts = 4” in k2, p2.
Aran - 20 stitches = 4” in st st. Approximately 30 sts = 4” in k2, p2.

Sizes
