In recent years, this pattern's designer, Parna, decided to just admit that she is a bit of a sci-fi / fantasy geek. She loves to watch or read plot lines about good vs. evil, humans vs. supes (that's slang for supernatural beings to nerdy types), demons vs. angels - you get the idea.

Parna knit this cowl while watching the final episodes in a "save the world from the apocalypse" season of one of her favorite TV shows. She couldn't help but think that the oh-so-cute boys tasked with saving the world would have benefited from something to keep them warm during those long and lonely nights fighting evil...
