Knitting 911: Tuesday, January 21, from 6:00-8:00pm - from Twisted Classes
Spend a couple hours with Cheri, and learn how to rescue your knitting boo-boos! Gain confidence in fixing your mistakes, as we practice on swatches.
All classes are intended for adults (roughly high school and up) unless otherwise noted. Please read our class policies and cancellation information before registering and contact us if you have any questions!
Basic long tail or knitted cast on, knit and purl stitches, binding off.
How to pick up dropped stitches both horizontally and vertically, how to unknit one stitch at a time, how to take out bigger chunks of knitting, how to recognize what your mistakes are, and more!
Knit one flat, stockinette stitch swatch (knit on the right side, purl on the wrong side) and knit one flat, garter stitch swatch (knit on the right side, knit on the wrong side) in worsted weight yarn (light color preferable) on appropriately sized needles. Cast on 20 stitches, and work for 3-4 inches. Leave on needles - do not bind off. Students who do not finish their homework will be able to observe the techniques used, but may not be able to perform them in class.
Either bring your own or before/during class get 20% off your purchase of the following:
- Yarn: 1 skein of worsted weight yarn - preferably wool, not variegated, and light-colored to make it easier to see your stitches. We recommend Malabrigo Worsted
- Needles: one set of knitting needles for knitting flat to match your yarn. US #8 / 5 mm 24” circular or so - whatever gets you a nice gauge on that yarn. Also another 24” circular needle 3-4 sizes smaller than your main needle.
- Notions: one crochet hook in size G, H, or I. Locking stitch markers. We recommend Twisted plastic locking stitch markers.
- Pattern: n/a
