Made of high quality stainless steel or bamboo impregnated with resin, HiyaHiya Bamboo, Steel, and Sharp Steel Interchangeable Needle Sets feature keyless screw-on connections with flexible cables with lifeline holes, good joins, and a smooth finish. They are lightweight to handle and will warm quickly to the hand.

Sets are available in Small or Large sizes, with 4" or 5" tips, and with Bamboo, Steel, or Sharp Steel point tips. (Bamboo is not available in Large 4")

Tip Point

HiyaHiya Steel and Bamboo needles have a standard, slightly rounded tip, while Sharp Steel needles have a pointier tip ideal for lace. Neither is right or wrong - it's a personal preference!

Tip Length

HiyaHiya interchangeable sets come in two tip lengths - 4" and 5". When paired with cords, the 5" tips will create a total needle length that is 2" longer than the 4" tips. Choose your tip length based on which is more comfortable for you personally to hold.

Sets with 4" tips include a cord to make a 16" needle. Sets with 5" tips do not include this length cord because they don't combine to make a functional needle. So, sets with 5" tips instead include two 26" cables.

Base Size

HiyaHiya interchangeable needles are split between two screw base sizes. US 2-8 needle tips have a smaller base; US 9-15 needle tips have a larger base. Because the small and large needle tips have different screw bases the tips and cords are not by default interchangeable between the two. Optional adapters are available separately to use large tips on small cords. The assembled needle lengths listed for these sets are measured from tip to tip with tips attached to cables.

Cord Length

The length listed for these cables is the assembled length from tip to tip with needle tips attached. Because HiyaHiya needle tips come in two lengths, that means two assembled lengths are listed for each cord - one with two 4" tips and one with two 5" tips. The total assembled needle length is the combination of the lengths of both tips and the cord. For approximate cord length to make your desired assembled needle length, please see the chart below:

With two 4" Tips:
9.5" cable makes a 16" needle
17.5" cable makes a 24" needle
25.5" cable makes a 32" needle
33.5" cable makes a 40" needle
53.5" cable makes a 60" needle

With two 5" Tips:
9.5" cable makes a 18" needle
17.5" cable makes a 26" needle
25.5" cable makes a 34" needle
33.5" cable makes a 42" needle
53.5" cable makes a 62" needle
