Rose City Yarn Crawl Weekend Round Up!

Rose City Yarn Crawl Weekend Round Up!

Plied Knowledge: The week that was…

At the store:

  • It's a new month which means a new Knit 12 Together Cast On Party! March's project is the beautiful Calliope beret by Meg Kealey and we recommend one of our newest yarns, Less Travelled Yarn, but any sport weight will do! And if you joined us for the cast on party and enjoyed this month's treat, Marzipan Torte, Twistedista Dawn used the one from the Oregonian Cookbook. That recipe doesn't seem to exist online, but here is the closest she could find from David Lebovitz...
  • As is our custom, we have special RCYC colors from Blue Moon Fiber Arts that are exclusive to the store! Red Dawn and Shed A Little Light are now available in multiple bases from Blue Moon for all of your project needs.  And, bonus round, this year we brought back ALL our past Rose City Yarn Crawl colors! If you are a completist, we have just the kit for you - a 13 skein retrospective set where you get all the colors in either Featherlight or Socks That Rock Lightweight!
  • Did your ears perk up a the word "kit?" Boy, do we have kits for you! First up is our knit pattern, The Moon and Other Satellites, which we have in 2 bases and 3 color ways (while supplies last)! Next, we have the crochet pattern, Old Growth, in 2 bases of either of our exclusive 2019 colorways. And last, but certainly not least, we brought back last year's extremely popular RCYC knit pattern, the Waterside Shawl, in 2 bases and 2 color ways. And as if that wasn't enough, for the weekend of the crawl all of the kits in either Blue Moon Socks That Rock Lightweight or Featherlight are 10% off thanks to that being our featured yarn.
  • Blue Moon isn't the only special RCYC colorway for us either. Twine is back again with a stunner of a color, Wild Abandon. Former Twistedista Rachel knocked it out of the park with the lovely tribute to all things fibery!
  • And in the middle of all the RCYC buildup, Pom Pom magazine finally made it to the store after a weather delay! If the winter weather has left you unable to dream of things springlike, this botanically inspired magazine will help kickstart your next project...

Around the web:

  • Hungry for non-fiber related online finds? You have come to the right place! Any roller skating fans? You might have to make a pilgrimage to the Church Of 8 Wheels....
  • Have you ever stopped to think about all of the people you tend to see regularly but really never know? Here's an interested article with wonderful comments discussing the Not-So-Stranger idea...
  • Do you need a boost of feminism and joy? A mother and daughter teamed up to recreate photos of iconic black women.
  • And if you like music and are needing a laugh, NPR brings you a first listen of the Flight Of The Concords latest album.

And totally, completely, unapologetically local:

  • OF COURSE IT'S THE 2019 ROSE CITY YARN CRAWL! Come out and say hi to all of the participating shops and show off all your fabulous Mystery Along creations! And if you aren't lucky enough to be local, keep an eye on their social media to stay up to date on the weekend's shenanigans....

Have a great weekend and remember, you can always find us online!
