Plied Knowledge: The week that was…
At the store:
- Our Jojoland wall was looking pretty sad but thankfully a giant box showed up this week! Best part? New colors of cashmere!
- We are stocking upon our supply of Blue Moon ahead of the yarn crawl and it was a good week because we got in 3 bases!
- One of our teacher's favorite sweater yarns arrived this week. Can you guess? It's BMFA Targhee Worsted and you should definitely get a sweaters-worth while you can!
- Plushy! So springy and shiny, we love this yarn!
- One of the many BMFA fingering-weight bases that we carry is Featherlight. It's a soft and lovely 100% Superwash single ply that we just got in wide array of colors! In addition, we are back in stock of the colors needed for our RCYC 2019 knit store pattern, The Moon and Other Satellites...
- Our Knit 12 Together Cast On Party was on Monday! We are all busy working on the Rose City Yarn Crawl Mystery A-longs this month and it's never too late to join. If you made it and are hoping for recipes, the chocolate cookies were these World Peace Cookies from Smitten Kitchen. As for what Twistedista Dawn is calling Loaded Blondies, start with the Tollhouse Pan Brownies but use whole wheat flour, an entire bag of dark chocolate chips, and instead of the 1 cup of nuts the recipe calls for;1/3 cup of coconut, 1/3 cup of cranberries, and 1/3 cup of pecans...
- And don't forget to keep an eye on our classes...
Around the web:
- The Oscars are this weekend! We have rounded up a menagerie of articles in their honor...
- First off, a printable Oscar ballot...
- The hair and makeup team for 1917 had an extra challenge for continuity purposes...
- Hosting a party? You are gonna need drinks and nibbles...
- Valentine's Day is looming...
- Want to make something sweet for your sweeties? Twistedista Dawn *swears* by this chocolate cake recipe. Not just for Valentine's Day but for any occasion!
- Need ideas for classroom valentines that are not candy?
- Here's a fun heart mani to treat yourself!
- And just because we all need something pretty to stare at, here is a botanical animation of the story of flowers...
And totally, completely, unapologetically local:
- It has been even more rainy than usual around Portland, which means it is time for the Winter Light Festival!
- Need some retail therapy? The Portland Night Market is this weekend...
- Live theater fan? The Fertile Ground Festival is for you!
Have a great weekend and remember, you can always find us online!
