Upcoming Opportunities at the Twisted Knitstitute of Higher Purling

i.e. the class round up for September 29th- October 5th!

Beaded Wristband/Intro the Knitting with Beads- September 30th, 5-8 pm with Elaine Marcus. Learn to knit with beads while making adorably hip little accessories (need we remind you about the upcoming season of hectic gift giving? ‘Cause these are perfect!) Class is $30 and you’ll need one skein of Louet Gems Fingering or another fingering weight yarn, approx. 100 size 6 or 8 seed beads, a beading needle, and size 3 dpns. Handout is included.

My First Scarf- October 2nd and 9th, 10:30-12:30 pm with Julie Nelligan. New knitters or those returning after an absence- this is the class for you! You’ll get to pick one of six different lacy scarf patterns to try out and gain new skills along the way. Class is $40 and you’ll need about 600 yards of fingering weight yarn and US size 4 or 5 needles. Includes Ann Norling’s Six Lace Scarves pattern.

Intro to Lace- October 2nd, 3:30-5:30 pm with Michelle Molis. Learn the basics of lace with Michelle’s uber-popular Japanese Vines scarf pattern. Class is $20 and you’ll need about 400 yards of fingering weight yarn (a solid color, preferably not too dark), US 3 needles, stitch markers, and a darning needle. Please bring a swatch or sample of your knitting. Class includes the pattern, and you’ll learn yarn overs, slip slip knit, and how to read a chart (which will make your lace-related life so much easier!)

Needlefelting – October 2nd, 1-3pm with Karen Jensen. It’s like painting or sculpting with fiber! Super fun and really rather cathartic- stab your way to a beautiful project! Class is $20 and you’ll need some wool felt, several colors of wool roving, and a needle felting kit (we’ve got ’em, just ask and we’ll get ya all set up!)

Intarsia Workshop- October 4th, 6-8pm with Anne Berk. Intarsia (a technique that allows for large solid areas of different colors) doesn’t have to be intimidating! Anne will break it down into manageable steps that will have you using colors in a whole new way in no time! Class is $20 and you’ll need smooth, worsted weight yarn in 3 or more colors and the same fiber, as well as circular or straight needles one size smaller than what you would normally use for that yarn.
