On knitting mojo (with tv/movie quotes)

We so often have guests come into the store and apologize. For not knitting fast enough or not finishing enough projects or not knitting well enough or not having knit in years. This never ceases to surprise us, since we’re always excited to help people with their projects – whatever they’re working on and whomever they are. (Video link: Sponge Bob sings “Apologize” – way better than Timbaland.)

If you’ve ever knit a stitch then you’re a knitter. What is there to apologize for? If you’re here now and enjoying it then rock on! And so I say to you: knitting means never having to say you’re sorry. (Although, as for the original quote, I lean more toward John Lennon than Oliver Barrett IV…)

stuartsmalley.jpgAlong those lines, I must say that of late I’ve got my knitting mojo back. I think I overdosed on yarn for a bit there – it happens to the best of us. But lately I’ve been really enjoying it again. Some socks for my dad, a sweater for me. It’s all feeling pretty good. I’m never going to be the kind of knitter who pumps out finished objects so fast my yarn starts to smoke. But the thing is – that’s okay! (Let’s just take a moment to give a shout out to the new junior senator from Minnesota at this juncture…)

Anyway, as I was saying, that’s okay! If you, too, have taken a break from knitting, but are feeling a twinge of wanting to start back up come on in to the shop and stroll around. Whatever you’re knitting or not knitting right now, whatever speed you’re doing at, however many “design features” you’ve unintentionally added to your pattern – you’re still a knitter and we’ll still be psyched to help you out.
