Kapok. A blend in yarn, not a science-fiction creature.

So, you know how there are all of these fabulous yarn-blends out there, from bamboo, to soy, to flax, to hemp? Well, now there is also Kapok, which sounds like something that’s either man-made, futuristic, or straight outta Dr. Who, but is actually a plant-fiber.

This is the Kapok tree. Beautiful, no?

And, this is what the Kapok seeds and fibers look like.

This is what Kapok-blend yarn looks like:

Sublime Kapok DK, the deets:
Content: 85% Cotton, 15% Kapok
Care: Machine Wash Gentle Cold, Dry Flat
Weight/Yardage: 50g/126yd
Gauge: 5.5 sts = 1″ on US 6

And, as always, Sublime has a sweet little book full of precious projects to support this yarn.

There are 8 colors, all soft and perfect for baby, or for that summery top you know you are itching to make!
