Crochet Blankets

The transition to a cozier season has us digging out projects that we set aside over the summer. One of our Twistedistas just unpacked her stash of crochet blanket WIPs and FOs, and the rest of us are positively losing our minds over the luscious rainbow. Here is the colorful tour!

Crochet Blanket Pattern Ideas

  1. Granny Squares (above, top right) - Multi-color blocks tied together with a solid color edging. There are infinite variations, but here is a beginner granny square tutorial we love from Sarah Maker.
  2. Granny Stripes (above, background/left) - Use every inch of leftover yarns, or combine all your favorite colors in one place. Here is a great granny stripe tutorial from Attic 24.
  3. Or, get fancy with two-color medallions of a Marguerite Blanket by Sandra Eng. This is a more advanced pattern that creates a truly stunning finished blanket.

Crochet Blanket Yarn Idea: Mini Skeins

Why pick one? Use all the colors! Crochet is especially quick, cozy, and open to improvisation, so crochet blankets make an ideal canvas for combining smaller quantities of yarns like mini skeins and leftovers into works of art.
Pick an array of minis to tell a full gradient or rainbow story, find special minis to tie together leftovers into a perfect custom palette, or choose minis that make your heart sing and combine them at random.
