Classes for Beautiful Knits

Bored with basic stitches? Sign up for Be Manipulative! Elongated Novelty Stitches, Deconstructed – Saturday, April 23, from 10:30am-1:00pm, with Michele Bernstein. Learn new ways to add texture to your knitting with these clever techniques. Students will create a sampler of stitches in class for a hands on experience.

Learn the art of Mending Your Knits, Saturday, April 23, from 2:00-5:00pm, from Sivia Harding. Examine past and present methods of mending and darning knits with particular emphasis to techniques that cross cultures. Examine beautiful mended textiles from around the world with slide show and textile samples, plus darning and mending diagrams found in old books. Several mending techniques are taught, including Sivia’s own knitted mend.

Start every project off right with the knowledge you’ll gain in It’s All About the Gauge, Tuesday, April 26, from 6:00-8:00pm, with Debbi Stone. You’ll learn how to swatch for success, and how gauge, tension, and fiber choice effect the outcome of your knits.
