Freia Fine Handpaints
We're still all about the gorgeous unfolding autumn colors outdoors right now! So this week we're celebrating the crown jewel of gradients, Freia Fine Handpaints.
Hand-dyed in North Adams, Massachusetts, Freia offers unparalleled gradient, self-striping, and semi-solid yarns in soft 100% wool and luxury blends. Owner Tina Whitmore and her three employees wind their yarn into "cakes" and "yarn bombs," as opposed to traditional balls and twists. Whitmore says this technique presents the gradient and ombre colors in much more visible ways. The Freia ombre yarns we carry have gorgeous extra long gradients - that cannot be replicated in mass production - with a lush depth of color.
Minikins
Minikins shrink down your favorite Freia Fine Handpaints ombre colorways.
The smaller yardage means a quicker gradient, perfect for smaller projects like hats, cowls, and mitts. And amazing for colorwork accents!
Each minikin is 107 yards / 98 meters per 0.88 oz / 25 g for $15.00.
These Minikin Palette Packs include 9 coordinating colorways, enough yarn for a large shawl, baby blanket, or multiple accessories.
They take away the guesswork and deliver a great set of perfectly cohesive colors.
Each palette pack totals 963 yards / 882 meters per 7.92 oz / 225 g for $124.00
Ombre Fingering
Freia's Ombre Fingering Shawl Balls are a smooth, single ply, fingering weight base.
We particularly love to combine this yarn with a less elaborate pattern so that the beautiful colorways can take center stage.
Shawl Balls have 430 y / 393 m per 3.53 oz / 100 g ball for $39.00

Ombre Worsted
A 100% wool blend of Rambouillet, Corriedale, and Columbia wool from sheep raised in Colorado.
The fibers are worsted spun into a single-ply yarn that is surprisingly strong, yet still lofty.
127 y / 115 m per 2.64 oz / 75 g ball for $27.50

Ombre Plush
To say that Plush is soft and lofty is an understatement - it's positively dreamy!
This newer base is exclusive to Freia and is as far as we know the only yarn on the market today with this amazing blend of fibers in a super bulky gauge.
85 % Merino / 15% Mulberry Silk
100 y / 91 m per 5.3 oz / 150 g ball for $44.00.
