Holy felted crowns, batman

You’re going to have to forgive me for a moment. I have fallen in love with a customer’s project. And her. And her daughter.

Katje knit these insanely awesome felted crowns for every wee one attending her daughter, Vivian’s, third birthday party. Luckiest little girl in the whole world! And the most adorable model you could imagine for these stunning crowns from a free pattern on Ravelry, knit in Brown Sheep Lanaloft Worsted and Bulky, and decorated with felted baubles (our favorite new little crafty notion!) and lots of creativity.

Thanks so much to Katje and Vivian for taking the time for our photo shoot! Guest appearances by Carat and Nugget, who Vivian calls “the Pig Dogs”. She’s as smart as she is cute, folks.

  1. These are adorable! What a nice thing to do for these little girls. I would imagine they had fun at the party.

  2. Greetings Katje! FANTASTIC!! I am wondering if you have any comments on pattern? I noticed when perusing it the comment regarding increases/decreases..apparently some folks have had ‘issue’. Looks to me tho that you had nothing but FUN! :> Well done dear and thanks so much for the smiles this morning!

  3. I didn’t have a ton of problems with the increases / decreases but I did notice that depending on how tight you knit the tops could curl over when you felted them. No biggie really, since once you decorate them they straighten out or they don’t and still look cute. It was quite the project that sort of got out of hand but reaped great rewards. The kids liked them and I think they will grow into playing with them more as dress up gets more important. It took about 3 hours apiece to knit the smaller ones (and that is what I would do again, the larger 24 stitch ones are HUGE) so not terribly time consuming. And the decorating them is a blast! Thanks for the comments!

  4. And I would note, the older boys (4-7) seems to enjoy them far more than the 3 year olds. They were superhero’s RIGHT away.
