Anne Berk is an amazing teacher, and we are so stoked to have her sharing more of her knowledge with us here at Twisted. The first new class this fall is on Bohus Knitting, on Saturday, October 1st from 10am – 1pm. It costs $30, and is sure to be a blast! There are three ways to register: give us a call at 503-922-1150, stop in to the shop, or shoot us an email email@example.com.
Bohus Stickning. Or Bohus Knitting, as us English speakers might call it. Either way, it’s a gorgeous style of knitting that originated in Sweden in the 1930’s and might be loosely described as looking like “Fair Isle with texture.” Traditional bohus sweaters with their elaborately colored round yokes are works of art, considered haute couture in their heyday. And you can learn to make ‘em! Anne Berk will talk you through the details of this unique and beautiful method.
Materials: Each student should bring 7-10 colors of fingering weight yarn (small amounts or scraps are perfect!) and US size 1 needles (long dpns, straights, or circulars- you will be knitting a swatch.) Brown Sheep Fingering or a similarly “fuzzy” fingering weight yarn is ideal for a traditional “halo” look.
